Why Do Hearing Aids Cost So Much?... THEY DON’T!!!?

The truth behind the perceived high prices of hearing aids lies in the tactics used to advertise and sell hearing aids to the consumer. The tactic is an old one and used frequently in the sale of many consumer goods. First, the suggested retail price is presented significantly inflated. The hearing aid dealer will then advertise a huge discount to you for the hearing instruments. If you are lucky, you actually end up paying a current fair market price. Thanksgiving and turkeys go together, but don’t you be the “turkey” that responds to an advertisement like this:

GUARANTEED SATISFACTION “Today, and only for the first 25 people responding to this ad, you will receive 50% to 60% off any pair of our most advanced digital and programmable hearing aids.”

I am a senior citizen, too, and like you have grown tired of the many, many, many hearing aid sales advertisements (like our example). I frankly consider them an insult to my intelligence. We may be getting older but we are not stupid!! I do believe the following age old sayings are well worth your consideration as you consider purchasing your hearing aids.

•"If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.”
•“You get what you pay for.”
•“Do it right and do it right the first time or don’t do it at all.”

I offer free hearing screenings, as well as, comprehensive hearing evaluations. I provide a detailed explanation of your hearing test results and counsel as to whether amplification is needed.

My “mission” as an audiologist at GRANGER HEARING CENTER is to improve your quality of life by opening up to you the new world of sound that will allow you to feel more connected to your family, friends, community and to the world at large.
